Okinohata Suitensu Festival @ Yanagawa, May 3rd – 5th

Very interesting festival is held in Yanagawa Southern city in Fukuoka Prefecture. Yanagawa is famous for a city of water ways. Music and ceremonies are showed on a floating stage made from canal boats tied together at this festival. Enjoy looking around the stalls on the streets by the canal! Access 50min by Nishitetsu train to Yanagawa station from Nishitetsu Fukuoka station(830yen). Take hourly bus from Yanagawa station and get off at “Ohana mae”(御花前) bus stop(10min 200yen,). JR Hakata City

Hakata’s brand-new symbol, JR Hakata City has opend!! This is a 12-story (from basement to rooftop) complex department store connected to JR Hakata station. Very convenient to do shopping and eat!! Hundreds of clothing shops and restaurants, a huge book store, a cinema, souvenir shops etc… Tokyu Hands are located on from 1st floor to 5th floor. Access Take a bus No. 44 from Mizuho, the closest bus stop from the hostel, to Yahoo Dome-mae ,about 40min 220yen. On weekends, not so many buses run on this route. You can take a subway from Hakata station to Tojinmachi station, 15min 250yen and 10min walk from the station.

This is one of the most popular events during Golden Week in Japan!! About 2million people visit this festival every year!! The main event is a parade.
