Fireworks Festival @ Karatsu, Saga, July 17th

This festival is held in Karatsu, Saga prefecture, not in Fukuoka. 6000 fireworks attract you on July 17th. How about to visit Karatsu castle before fireworks!? *If it rains, it will be postponed until July 18th.* Fireworks display: 8pm – 9:15pm Access Take the subway train from Hakata station and get off at “Karatsu” station.(about 1:20, 1100yen) From the station about 15min walk to the beach where you can see the fireworks dwsplay.

Fireworks Festival @ Ohori Park, August 1st

Why don’t you enjoy the big fireworks display in the city?? 6000 fireworks are set off from the central island of the pond at Ohori Park. Chiran “Neputa Matsuri” in Kagoshima – 16th July 2011

NOTE: this festival is NOT in Fukuoka, it is Kagoshima prefecture. Are you going to Kagoshima in July 16th? Here is the great festival in Minami-Kyushu city. Chiran Neputa Matsuri   The shuttle bus from Kagoshima Chuo station West exit 13:00 on 16th July. For return, leaves chiran at 21:30. The price 2,000 yen (advanced booking required) The website is only Japanese. http://www.nansatsu.com/ It will be postponed for 17th in case of rain.

Seisyoko Festival @ Kato Shrine in Kumamoto, July 23rd and 24th

Seisyoko Festival is held near Kumamoto Castle on July 23rd and 24th. On 23rd, some shows are performed at the stage and stalls are opened from the evening. The main event is held on July 24th. The parade of the people carrying mikoshi(a potable shrine), children in traditional cloth, a miko(Shrine maidens) and so on is walk around the area near Kumamoto Castle. Fireworks Festival @ Sasaguri, July 9th

Fireworks Festival is held in Sasaguri (14-20min travel by train from Hakata) on July 9th!! 1236 fireworks will be set off. You can also see Yamakasa (decorated floats) and various stalls. Let’s enjoy Japanese Summer with Fireworks!! *The festival will be held in light rain, but it will be canceled in heavy rain Fireworks display: 8pm – 9pm Access Take JR Fukuhoku Yutaka line train(most of the train goes from No.8 platform) from Hakata station and get off at Sasaguri station.(about 14-20min, 270yen)
