Gokusho Light Up Walk (November 3 to 7, starts 6pm)

It is in the historical district of  Fukuoka, which has many shrines and temples. Four of them will be beautifully lit up. November 3rd ~ 7th, 6pm ~ 9pm. Tickets 800yen At Joten-ji temple, Tocho-ji temple, and Myoraku-ji temple and Kushida shrine. Above are all very close to each other. How to get there? 30 minutes walk from Khaosan Fukuoka. OR Take a subway from Hakata station to Gion station (1 minute, 100yen). 2010 Saga International Balloon Fiesta, 3rd – 7th of November

This is an annual event in November in Saga prefecture. About 100 hot air balloons from Japan and overseas join the competition. Despite the early morning starts, more than a million people visit this fiesta. There are two balloon competitions everyday. The first competitions start 7am and the second ones start at 3pm. Some other events are held between and after the competitions by 5pm (4th day and last day by7:30pm). Also food stalls serve you local dishes. Access : Take JR express train from Hakata to Saga. Hakata Okunchi Festival (Oct.23 & 24) at Kushida Shrine

The festival, which gives thanks for the autumn harvest, began around 1200 years ago. Events include a traditional parade. At Kushida shrine. (The parade starts on the 24th at 2 pm.) How to get there : Take a 30 minutes walk from Khaosan Fukuoka. OR take a subway from Hakata station to Gion (2mins,100yen)+ 3 minutes walk. OR take a bus #114 from Mizuho (just across the street from Khaosan Fukuoka) to Canal city Hakata (15mins, 180yen) + 1 minute walk.

Hakata Toumyou Lantern Arts (Oct.23, 6p.m.~)

“Hakata Toumyou Lantern Arts” is a festival of lights in Hakata. More than 100000paper lanterns will light up streets, Temples and parks. Many artists also “paint” pictures as large as 260 feet (80 meters) in diameter on the ground with lanterns.
